About
the MYC
The Mattapoisett Yacht Club invites you to participate in
its activities on the waters of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.
Our activities include: racing, social events and summer rendezvous fun!
We welcome all boaters from power to sail. Many of our members compete
in a series of ten Wednesday Night races in July and August. Other members
help officiate these and other special race events, such as the MYC Round
the Bay Race, The Buzzards Bay Regatta, and the Commodores’ Pursuit
Race. We have race classes to accommodate all boats, from Sunfish®
to large cruising yachts.
Don’t assume that America’s Cup racing experience is necessary
in order to race. Although we are one of the oldest yacht clubs in America
(established in 1901) we prefer to emphasize the fun and recreational
aspects of sailboat racing. One of the greatest benefits members have
derived from racing has been better knowledge of sail trim, increased
confidence and better boat-handling abilities. Our race season concludes
with an annual awards dinner.
Please join us for the camaraderie and to experience all that Buzzards
Bay has to offer.
